Central Government today declared the increase in Dearness Allowance with effect from January 2011 in Paliament. The increase in DA will be six percent (6%) only. Now the New DA rate will be 51%. Thus it will increase ayments like conveyance allowance and children education allowance will also increase by 25%. This decision will benefit about 50 lakh Central Government employees and 38 lakh pensioners. While the move will provide some relief to Central government employees and pensioners , the increase will cost the exchequer Rs 1,500 crore annually.
