Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban
Poverty Alleviation and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu
today made an unannounced visit to Nirman Bhawan at 9:00 A.M. sharp. He
walked into rooms of several officers and their supporting staff. He
also inspected corridors and the rooms in the building wherein the two
urban affairs related departments are located. The Minister also
checked the canteens and the toilets.
Shri Venkaiah Naidu has noticed rooms of several officers and reporting staff empty as they were still to reach office. He also took note of electrical and other wires dangling along corridors and unused and waste materials dumped in the open. He found the floors being cleaned as he went around for about half an hour. The Minister was not happy with the upkeep of canteens.
Shri Venkaiah Naidu later called Secretary (Urban Development) and other senior officials including those belonging to CPWD and conveyed his displeasure over late arrival of officers and other staff and poor maintenance of the working place. Shri Naidu emphasized that a presentable and efficient working environment are the need of the hour and necessary action should be taken to remedy the deficiencies that have come to his notice at the earliest.
